ORGANISATION BACKGROUND
Kishenyi savings and Credit Co-operative Society Limited was founded in 1983 by a group of 50 farmers in kashekuro parish. The SACCO was registered as a saving and credit cooperative in the year 1983 under the cooperative society's statute.
The SACCO was founded to pool together member's resources and extends credit facilities to members and other beneficiaries. Through the SACCO can invest its excess cash in short-term investment such as treasury bills and fixed deposits, it is important to note that to provision of credit facilities takes precedent over any other investment destination.
The SACCO was registered as a financial cooperative in 1983 by the Registrar of cooperative societies, in the Ministry of trade, Industry and Cooperatives, with Registered Number 4400. Hence, the SACCO is a legal entity under the cooperative societies Act of 1991, and the Cooperative Societies Regulations of 1992.
